Language Study Honor - Advanced

Requirements
- Complete the Language Study Honor.
- Read and translate, at sight, a text of at least 300 words from a book or magazine in a language that is not native to you.
- Be able to hold a conversation in this other language for a period of at least 5 minutes.
- Listen to part of a speech or statement of at least 2 minutes, made by someone whose native language is the foreign language you chose, and translate it into your language.
- Write a simple letter in the foreign language of your choice and state the contacts you have been able to make with people whose native language is the language you chose.
Answer: Writing in the language and seeking out native speakers puts the learning to real use.
- Know and repeat from memory the Pathfinder Pledge and Law in this foreign language.
Answer: Memorizing the Pledge and Law in another language joins the learning of the language to the identity of the Pathfinder.
- Write or present orally information about some foreign population, whose native language is the language of your choice, that lives in your neighborhood, city, region, or State, and what opportunities you have to converse with native speakers of that language.
Answer: Finding out where native speakers are near you opens up real opportunities to practice and serve in that language.
