Bible Marking Honor - Advanced

Missionary & Community Activities

Requirements

  1. Have the Bible Marking Honor.
  2. Mark two additional studies in your study Bible using at least 20 texts each.
  3. Using a concordance, mark ten texts for a devotional study.
  4. Write a report:
    • Describing the guidelines for maintaining a clear marking system.
    • Provide a key for understanding your marked Bible.

Answer: 1) Guidelines for keeping a clear marking process: always use the same colors for the same themes (e.g., red = salvation, blue = promises, green = Christian living); highlight without covering the text, keeping it legible; note keywords and cross-references in the margins; maintain consistency throughout the Bible, from beginning to end; and use pens or pencils suited to thin paper, that do not smudge or bleed through. 2) The key (legend) is a table, usually placed on the inside cover or the first page, that explains the meaning of each color, symbol, and mark used. With it, anyone can understand the marking system adopted and quickly locate the themes studied. — A consistent marking system with a legend turns the Bible into an easy-to-consult study and preaching tool.

  5. Give a Bible study using your marked Bible.
