Float Parade Honor
Missionary & Community Activities
Requirements
- Learn and apply the safety rules for creating a parade float.
Answer: Safety rules: use a firm, well-secured structure (nothing loose that could fall); respect the weight limit and the number of people on the float; have safe supports and handrails for those who climb on; use low-flammability materials and keep the float away from electrical wires; check the vehicle that carries it (brakes, a licensed driver, low speed); and have people accompanying the float on foot during the parade. — A safe float means a firm structure, controlled weight, non-flammable materials, and people accompanying it — safety before the celebration.
- List at least five materials that can be used in the construction and decoration of a parade float.
Answer: Five materials: wood or a metal structure (the base/frame); crepe paper and TNT fabric (colorful decoration); flowers (natural or paper); EVA foam and cardboard (shapes and ornaments); and fabrics, balloons, and lights (finishing touches). Also styrofoam, ribbons, and paint. — From the wooden structure to the crepe paper, TNT fabric, and flowers — simple, colorful materials bring the parade float to life.
- Help build a parade float:
- Helping with the design of the parade float for your Pathfinder club or youth group.
- Assist in planning the necessary materials and get involved in collecting these materials.
- Participate in the decoration for at least 4 hours.
- Participate in a parade with the float you helped build and decorate and, when appropriate, hand out flyers explaining about the Pathfinders and Youth Ministry.
- Photograph your float during its creation and during the parade and share the experience in one of the following ways:
- With at least two of them, explaining how your group witnessed to the community
- Report with photos and stories to the church or in the Sabbath school program and to a Pathfinder club.
- Memorize Mark 16:15 and discuss with a group how the Float Parade Honor helps fulfill this biblical commandment.
