Web Evangelism Honor - Advanced

Missionary & Community Activities

Requirements

  1. Have the Web Evangelism Honor.

Answer: You first need to master basic concepts of digital evangelism, tools and biblical principles for Christian content. The advanced one goes deeper into a real site/blog and weekly production. — The Web Evangelism Honor was created by the South American Division in 2008 and its advanced model from 2012 follows the standard pedagogical progression of technical and missionary skills among Brazilian Adventist Pathfinders.

  2. Based on the criteria learned in requirements 5 and 6 of the Web Evangelism Honor, create a website or blog, personal or for your club. Using this site/blog, over a period of 3 months, you must post weekly content related to at least three of the topics below:
    • How the Bible and its teachings apply to the life of the Pathfinder.
    • News from your Pathfinder Club.
    • Articles or interviews that address the advantages of participating in a Pathfinder Club.
    • Reference content created by you (tutorial, guides, handbooks, photos, videos, article, testimony) related to Pathfinder classes and honors that can help other Pathfinders.
    • Content about social projects developed by your Club, by ADRA, or related to the projects: Breaking the Silence, Life for Lives, or Caleb Mission.
    • In your posts, include at least 3 links directing to official websites of the Seventh-day Adventist Church or volunteer websites that have content related to the posted topic.

Answer: You plan an editorial calendar in advance, produce texts with grammatical review and correct biblical citations, use your own or licensed images and add at least 3 links to official Adventist sites in each post. — Official Adventist sites such as adventistas.org, novotempo.com and hopechannel.com are recommended sources for citations and links, with content theologically approved by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, in use globally.

  3. Promote your site/blog weekly, using the accounts listed in requirement 3 of the Virtual Evangelism Honor and/or other creative methods.

Answer: You share the link in stories, posts and relevant groups on Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and YouTube. — The Instagram algorithm in 2025 favors reels and carousels with descriptive captions, being up to 5x more reachable than simple posts, according to Meta's 2024 report.

  4. Create a chart with the weekly access data, analyzing the variation in the number of visits and the most-accessed content (site pages).

Answer: You use Google Analytics or Google Search Console to collect data on visits, most-accessed pages, average time, and traffic sources. — Google Analytics 4, launched in 2020 and the mandatory standard since 2023, offers detailed analysis of user behavior on websites and apps free of charge to any content creator.

  5. List at least 3 sites that provide the Bible in various translations, with a word search field. Make an assessment of the different features offered by each one and their advantages.

Answer: You cite: bibliaonline.com.br (several translations with search by verse or word), biblegateway.com (multiple languages and translations with advanced search) and bible.com (the YouVersion app with more than 1,000 different versions). — YouVersion (Bible.com), created in 2008 by LifeChurch, is the most downloaded Bible app in the world, with more than 600 million installations in 2024 according to the platform's official data, available globally today.

  6. Using the sites listed in requirement 5 of this honor, conduct research on one of the topics from requirement 2 of the Web Evangelism Honor, listing at least 15 Bible passages on the chosen topic. Write a short explanatory paragraph for each of the passages and send one of these passages each day, for 15 days, along with the explanatory text, to at least 50 contacts, in each of the accounts used in requirement 3 of the Web Evangelism Honor.

Answer: The LGPD (Brazilian data protection law) requires prior consent for sending mass messages, and platforms such as WhatsApp apply automatic restrictions to accounts that send repetitive messages to strangers without the recipient's prior authorization.

  7. What is the importance of the Internet as a tool in preaching the gospel to peoples living under closed regimes and where there is no religious freedom? List at least 5 countries that do not have religious freedom. Discuss with your instructor how the Internet can help us fulfill the command of Jesus found in Mark 16:15.

Answer: 1) Importance of the Internet in closed regimes: it crosses physical borders, censorship, and legal prohibitions, taking the message of the gospel to places where missionaries and printed literature cannot enter. It works discreetly (websites, apps, social media, podcasts, online radio and TV), can be accessed secretly inside the home, and reaches millions of people simultaneously at low cost. 2) Five countries without full religious freedom: a) North Korea; b) Afghanistan; c) Somalia; d) Iran; e) China (also Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Eritrea, and Sudan). 3) How the Internet helps fulfill Mark 16:15: in this text Jesus commands 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.' The Internet helps fulfill this command because it makes 'all the world' literally reachable: Christian content reaches closed regimes through digital means, allowing isolated or persecuted people to learn the Bible, receive studies, and have contact with the church, without exposing missionaries to the risk of imprisonment. — The organization Open Doors publishes the World Watch List annually, and in 2024 North Korea held first place for the 22nd consecutive year as the country where the most Christians suffer persecution.

  8. Make available an automatic translation option on your site for at least 1 language spoken in the countries without religious freedom identified in requirement 7.

Answer: You install plugins such as Google Site Translator, Weglot, or GTranslate in WordPress, or add the Google Translate widget in plain HTML. — Google Translate supports more than 100 languages with varying quality: Arabic languages and Mandarin have accuracy above 85%, while less-spoken languages may need manual review of theological terminology.

  9. During the period of completing this honor, complete one of the following activities:
    • Participate as a volunteer in a web evangelism project promoted by the South American Division, Union, or local Field (Conference/Mission).
    • Participate in an in-person or online forum promoted by the Division, Union, or Conference/Mission with the theme of web evangelism.
    • Produce an original video presenting one of the topics from requirement 2 of the web evangelism Honor and post this video on YouTube.
    • Reach an influence score of at least 30 on the Klout service ( http://klout.com).

Answer: You can participate as a volunteer in a web evangelism project of the Church, join a forum (in person or online) on the subject, produce an original video about evangelistic themes on YouTube, or achieve an influence index on a social metric. — Klout was discontinued in 2018 and replaced by modern metrics such as Engagement Rate on professional platforms; YouTube today is the main showcase for evangelistic videos, with more than 2 billion active users globally.
