Requirements
- What is a live broadcast (Live)?
Answer: It is the transmission of audio and video over the internet in real time, in which the content is captured and displayed to the audience at the same moment it happens, allowing interaction (comments and reactions) during the broadcast. — In a livestream, the audience watches and interacts at the exact moment everything happens.
- Cite five live broadcasting platforms.
Answer: YouTube, Facebook (Facebook Live), Instagram, TikTok, and Twitch — also Zoom and Kwai. — Each platform has its own audience; choosing the right one broadens the reach of the broadcast.
- What physical equipment is used to carry out a live broadcast (Live)?
Answer: Camera (or phone/webcam), microphone, tripod/mount, lighting, computer or phone, and a good internet connection. Optionally: sound mixer, capture card, and switcher for multiple cameras. — Good picture, good sound, and a stable internet connection are the foundation of a quality livestream.
- What are the methods for carrying out a live broadcast?
Answer: You can broadcast: (1) directly from the phone/platform app (the simplest); (2) from the computer with software/an encoder (e.g.: OBS Studio), which allows scenes, overlays, and multiple cameras; (3) with professional equipment (hardware switcher/encoder). — From the phone to OBS on the computer, the method varies according to the desired quality and complexity.
- What is an encoder? And what is it for?
Answer: An encoder is the software or hardware that converts the captured audio and video into a compressed format (stream) that can be sent over the internet to the platform. It serves to compress and transmit the signal with quality, without freezing (e.g.: OBS Studio is a software encoder). — The encoder 'translates' the picture and sound into a lightweight signal that travels over the internet without freezing.
- What can you and can you not broadcast? Explain the rules and terms of social media.
Answer: You may broadcast your own and authorized content. You may NOT broadcast content with third-party copyright (music, films, games without permission), offensive or violent content, content with nudity, hate speech, or anything that violates other people's privacy. Each social network has 'Terms of Use' and 'Community Guidelines' that, if disregarded, may take down the livestream, block, or ban the account. — Respecting copyright and the platform's rules prevents having the livestream taken down or the account banned.
- What is framing?
Answer: Framing is the way you position and compose the image within the screen — what enters the frame, the angle, the distance, and the position of what is being filmed. Good framing enhances the subject and makes the broadcast pleasant to watch. — Framing well means choosing what appears on the screen and how — the foundation of a professional image.
