The Adventurer for Christ Honor, called Aventuras com Cristo (Adventures with Christ) in Portuguese, is measured on the calendar. It asks for two spiritual habits kept for at least three months, three service activities and a group project, and the card of the South American Division (SAD) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church requires it of anyone who wants to be invested in the Voyager class, the one for 14-year-olds. This guide for Pathfinders shows where the honor came from, what each requirement asks, what habit research teaches about consistency and a 13-week plan. The whole list is in the full requirements of the Adventures with Christ Honor, in the catalog.

What is the Adventurer for Christ Honor?

The Adventurer for Christ Honor belongs to the Missionary and Community Activities area, has the code AM-016 and is level 1, according to the Desbravai honor catalog, which lists it as the Adventures with Christ Honor. The General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church created it in 1989 under the English name Adventurer for Christ.

Most honors measure what you know or what you can do with your hands. This one measures consistency: requirement 1 is only met through weeks of repetition, and requirements 2 and 3 take your faith outside your bedroom.

The name and the timeline confuse a lot of people. The original General Conference wording, which AdventSource, the resource center of the North American Division, still distributes in English, asks for six months to a year of work and has four sections. An old PDF compilation in Portuguese, with no SAD branding, translates that text as Aventuras por Cristo (Adventures for Christ), with items that have aged, such as bringing a recording of a sermon on cassette tape.

This guide follows the Desbravai catalog, the reference for this site: the name Aventuras com Cristo (Adventures with Christ), the same one printed on the Voyager card, three requirements and at least three months of habits. The missionary venture invented by the Pathfinder, which was the fourth section of the original wording, now appears in the advanced version. Check with your Instructor which text applies in your Club before you start.

Why do the Pathfinder Voyager class requirements include the Adventurer for Christ Honor?

The Voyager class card, published by the South American Division (SAD) at adventistas.org, lists the requirement in section VI, Organization and Leadership, item 3. The class is for those who are at least 14 years old, and the full chart is in the guide to the Voyager class.

Its place on the card says a lot: the honor sits in the leadership section, next to tasks about the local church. Anyone who will help lead others first needs a devotional life of their own and the habit of serving.

In 2026 there is an extra reason to watch the calendar. The Guidelines Manual for the 6th SAD Camporee awards 150 points to a Club that has at least 70% of its members invested in regular classes by November 30, 2026, registered in the Club Management System (Sistema de Gerenciamento de Clubes, SGC). Under the catalog wording, the habits in requirement 1 last at least three months: to finish by November 30, they needed to start by August 30. Anyone starting in October completes the three months in January.

If that is your situation, do not adjust dates to fit the deadline. Talk to your Instructor and your Regional Coordinator about the investiture calendar: which wording applies and when the honor can be signed off are decisions for them and for your Conference or Mission.

What are the Adventurer for Christ Honor requirements?

The catalog organizes the honor into three requirements, all with options to choose from. The table summarizes each one without answers, because there is nothing to answer: what gets evaluated is what you did, and when.

Some items show the age of the text, such as bringing a DVD and sending a text message (SMS). If your Instructor accepts a current equivalent, like a video sent through a messaging app, agree on it beforehand and write down in your notebook which list will be used to sign you off.

Tip: the original General Conference wording says to choose a starting date and only accepts projects begun after it. The catalog does not include that rule, but the practice helps: write your start date on the first page of your honor notebook, even if your Instructor does not ask for it.

How long does it take to form a habit, and how do you keep one for three months?

In 2010, the European Journal of Social Psychology published a study by Phillippa Lally's team with 96 volunteers who set out to repeat a simple health behavior every day for 84 days, always tied to a cue from daily life. According to the British Psychological Society summary, the behavior took an average of 66 days to become automatic, ranging from 18 days to a projected 254 days.

The study brought good news: a single missed day barely got in the way; what mattered was many missed days added together. If you forget your reading on a Tuesday, pick it up again on Wednesday with no guilt and without trying to make up three days at once. Paul wrote in Galatians 6:9 (NKJV): "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart."

A pairing that tends to work combines a short daily habit with a weekly one, such as the lesson or family worship. The Brazilian Publishing House (Casa Publicadora Brasileira, CPB) publishes, in Portuguese, the Adolescents' Sabbath School Lesson, meant for ages 13 to 16, and the Devocional Teen line, whose 2026 edition is called Quando tudo dá certo (When Everything Goes Right). The method is in the guide on how to have a daily devotional, and the reading plan is in the article on the Pathfinder Bible Year.

Tie each habit to a fixed cue: after breakfast, before you open your phone. For the prayer journal, use a notebook just for it, with the date, the request and room for the answer; the ideas on how to pray help you add variety. That notebook becomes the best evidence for your Instructor.

Choosing the Bible year also helps your Club: the 6th SAD Camporee Manual awards 200 points when at least 50% of the Club is up to date with the Pathfinder or Junior Bible Year by November 30, 2026.

Which service activities should you choose for requirement 2?

In requirement 2, a good choice mixes audiences: one activity at home, one at church and one outside it show that you understood the idea. Jesus gave the reason in Matthew 25:40 (NKJV): "inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me."

The five handmade cards are the simplest way in. Write to someone who has been through grief, a hospital stay or a hard move, and sign your name. A short, honest sentence touches more than a copied poem.

Visiting someone who has drifted away from Sabbath School, church or the Club calls for tact. The list says to go with a friend and bring a card and a homemade gift. Arrange it first with your Counselor and with the family, go to listen and not to demand attendance, and pray for the person afterward.

Helping the pastor, head elder or deacon adds up to 6 hours: 2 a week for 3 weeks. Call ahead and accept simple tasks. The item about keeping your room tidy for a month, with acts of kindness toward your father and mother, is the most underrated: a family that sees a Pathfinder change at home takes what that Pathfinder does at the Club seriously.

Safety: visits, shelters and food deliveries always with an adult from the Club, never alone. For items done by email or social media, write only to people you and your family know, with your parents aware, and do not share your address, school or routine.

How do you do the requirement 3 project with your Unit?

Requirement 3 is a group effort: the Club, the Unit or the honor group picks one of the four projects and does it together, ideally with a real need in the neighborhood in mind.

In the garden cleanup, the Unit picks up litter and leaves notes and copies of Steps to Christ. The book, by Ellen G. White, first came out in 1892 and, according to a 2017 piece from the Loma Linda University library, has been translated into more than 165 languages. Ask the homeowner for permission before going in.

A birthday party at a nursing home needs to be arranged with the facility: time, dietary restrictions and number of visitors. The step by step is in the guide to visiting nursing homes and hospitals. The list asks for the party to be for one patient, so agree with the staff on who will be honored.

The family witnessing project gets parents and siblings working together: Bible studies, handing out Steps to Christ, adopting a family in need or a service project at an elderly person's home.

Helping after a tragedy, such as a flood or a fire, depends on adult coordination. Pathfinders do not go into risk areas: the Unit collects, sorts and delivers donations where the Civil Defense (Defesa Civil, in Brazil) or the church coordinators direct.

How do you complete the Adventurer for Christ Honor in 13 weeks?

Three months add up to about 13 weeks. The plan below fits requirements 2 and 3 into that period. It is a Desbravai suggestion; your Club's calendar has the final say.

The most common mistakes are starting without a set date, choosing habits that do not fit your routine and leaving the service activities for the last week. Another stumble is looking for Adventurer for Christ Honor answers or a ready-made test: there is no questionnaire to fill in, and the SAD Pathfinder Club Administrative Manual prohibits the use of answered honors, as the guide on Pathfinder honor answers explains.

After the basic honor comes the advanced Adventures with Christ Honor, at level 2, which asks, among other items, for a missionary venture of your own and three new adventures.

With your notebook ready, go item by item through the full requirements of the Adventures with Christ Honor before asking your Instructor to sign off.
